Pokemon Go players should know that Generation 2 will be arriving some time in the next six months; while Niantic still has plenty to do to prepare for this, the next generation will be arriving very soon and it’s time to start preparing for this.

Long-time fans of the Pokemon series will already have a clear idea of what to do while they wait for the next generation to arrive. The second generation will contain many new evolutions for the first generation of Pokemon which is great news for some of the ‘weaker’ Pokemon that are currently in the game.

It’s not entirely clear how most of these evolutions will work but it can be assumed that players are going to need a lot of candy for certain Pokemon. Porygon is one of the few that will be given a direct evolution so players will need to collect plenty of Porygon’s in preparation for this; many other Pokemon such as Scyther require a special item before they can evolve and they usually need to be traded before they evolve.

If trading is added to the game then it’s possible they will still need to be traded but for now, the best thing players can do is collect more Pokemon with Generation 2 evolutions.

While the Eevee evolutions in the first generation had an Easter Egg for getting a specific evolution, it’s unknown if this will also work for the Generation 2 ones. There are two more Eevee evolutions coming in the second generation.

For now, the best thing players can do is collect as many Pokemon as possible and focus on gaining more candy for the following Pokemon which all have Generation 2 evolutions.

  • Zubat
  • Gloom
  • Poliwhirl
  • Slowpoke
  • Onix
  • Chansey
  • Seadra
  • Scyther
  • Eevee
  • Porygon

There are also a few new Generation 2 Pokemon coming that will evolve into Generation 1 Pokemon.
