As the development for GTA 6 has most likely begun already, fans are starting to wonder how much this game is going to cost Rockstar to make. Answering this is a difficult thing to do, currently it is still unknown if the game will feature VR or AR support however rumors do suggest that Rockstar will be looking to implement VR into the game.
Grand Theft Auto 5 cost Rockstar around $265 million to create which makes this one of the most expensive games to ever be developed; despite this huge budget, the game quickly generated more than $800 million within 24 hours of release.
It’s clear that GTA 6 will most likely have another huge budget and it’s safe to assume that the game will quickly break even.
The development of GTA 6 will be slightly different however, this will be the first game in the series without Leslie Benzies; Benzies was the lead developer in the series and seems to have left Rockstar on bad terms. He is currently in a lawsuit with Rockstar over royalties which means that he most likely wouldn’t be willing to collaborate with the team for the next game.
Assuming the world of GTA 6 is as large and bountiful as Grand Theft Auto V, then the game will cost Rockstar around $260 million to create; if the game has added VR support or is even larger then the company could be looking at having a budget of up to $300 million for the game.
Without knowing much about the upcoming game, it’s difficult to put a cost estimate on the game.
Rockstar will reveal this information later into the development of GTA 6 and players should expect to see detailed reports about the production and sales of the game becoming clearer closer to the release date.
