Both Samsung Galaxy J2 and J5 were released in 2016 (J5 had an April release with J2 having a July release). Here’s a comparison of the two and you can decide which one will give you the most bang for your buck.

What Are The Designs Like?

J2 has a measurement of 142.4×71.1x8mm and has a weight of 138 grams. It’s made of plastic, and under the camera is a series of horizontal lines that can extend the frame.  It also has an illuminated ring around the camera sensor that lights up each time there is a notification.
J5 is bit heavier and thicker with a measurement of 145.8×72.3×8.1mm and has a weight of 159 grams. It’s also comprised of plastic and has a brushed metal finish, metal frame and curved edges.

What Are The Displays Like?

J2 comes with a super AMOLED display of five inches with a resolution of 1280×720 pixels at 294 ppi. The J5 has a largest AMOLED display of 5.2 inches with a resolution of 1280×720 pixels and 282 ppi.

What Is The RAM, Graphics Cards and Processors Like?

J2 has a Spreadtrum SC8830 chipset, quad-core Cortex A7 CPU with a speed of 1.5GHz, comes with 1.5GB of RAM and a Mali-400 MP2 graphics card. The J5 comes with the Qualcomm MSM8915 Snapdragon 410 chipset, 2GB of RAM, an Adreno 306 graphics card and a quad-core Cortex A53 CPU with speeds at 1.2GHz.

What’s The Storage Like?

The J2 device has an 8GB internal storage that is expandable to 12GB with a microSD card. The J5 has a larger internal storage with 16GB and can be expanded to 256GB with a microSD card.

What Can You Expect From The Batteries?

The J2 has a removable battery of 2600mAh, a bit weaker than the J5, which has a removable battery of 3100 mAh.

What Are The Cameras Like?

The J2 has an 8MP primary camera with autofocus, face detection, touch focus and LED flash as well as a 5MP secondary camera. The J5 has a 13MP primary camera with geo-tagging, autofocus and LED flash. It’s also got a secondary 5MP camera.
