Ideally, a new Android firmware update should improve the performance of the devices that download and install it. So why is Nougat wreaking havoc on many Nexus devices?

Two of the devices that have been most affected by Nougat issues are the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P. These two models received the Android Nougat as soon as it came out, which means that their owners have had plenty of time to observe the performance of their device and take note of what’s wrong. Here are some of the issues that were observed in the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P:

Boot Loops

Many Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P owners have reported that their devices are constantly rebooting after they downloaded and installed Nougat. A Google staff named Orrin has confirmed that it is indeed a recognized issue and that they’re currently investigating it. However, he pointed out that it’s most probably a hardware problem, which means it won’t be solved even with succeeding software updates. Those who are suffering from this issue can return to the place where they bought their phone and ask for a replacement or repair.

Battery Drain

In some Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P handsets, installing the Android Nougat update has led to abnormal battery drain. According to Gotta Be Mobile, users can observe their phones for a couple of days to see if the problem resolves itself. If two days has passed and the rate of battery drain is still the same, they can start looking for battery-draining apps then reinstall them to see if it would solve the problem. They can also contact Android N Support for more tips.

Wi-Fi Connection

Those who run into this issue can unplug their router then turn it back on; in some cases, taking this simple step can solve the problem. If it doesn’t, they can go to their phone’s Wi-Fi settings, “forget” the Wi-Fi network they’re connected to, then reconnect to it. They can also boot their device into Safe Mood to see if any apps are causing the issue.

These are just some of the problems that Nexus 5x and Nexus 6P encounter after installing Android Nougat. Have you run into these issues? How did you fix them? Share your thoughts below!
