EA and Maxis are still working on releasing new content for The Sims 4; the game is getting a new DLC this November which is the highly anticipated City Living expansion that will send players into the city with a large amount of new gameplay.

The next update for the game will be a huge one and the uncertainty around the future of The Sims series is fueling some new rumors that suggest that The Sims 5 could be delayed. Its been previously stated by the developer that there will not be another game in the series if The Sims 4 has poor sales and according to the sales reports, The Sims 4 has not met the expectations set for it.

New reports suggest that the team is still working on content for The Sims 4 and that development for The Sims 5 will not begin for some time still.

Rumors about The Sims 5 are varied and there is currently no certainty about the game; very few rumors about The Sims 5 co-inside with each other which makes it impossible to tell which ones are true. Some claims suggest that the game will use VR technology and others state that it will use AR technology and will be a mobile game; both of these seems rather unlikely for the series but considering the success of Pokemon Go, it’s not unlikely that EA will be looking at using AR in their games.

It’s currently thought that The Sims 5 will be released in 2019 with the next console generation which is thought to be released some time between 2018-2020.
