A new set of mobile phones is going to be released by Google in October 2016. These are the Pixel and Pixel XL, which are expected to be the flagship devices of Google. The said devices were naturally named Nexus 2016. In fact, rumors say that it was previously named Nexus Marlin and Sailfish, which later modified to what they are today.
According to sources, these devices will showcase the latest Android version 7.0 Nougat, which was released recently in August. A few weeks after its launch in October, the devices will be available in the market. Here are the specs of the latest addition to the Nexus family.
- HTC Will Manufacture Google’s Nexus
According to sources, the Nexus Sailfish will be named Pixel. This will the smaller device with 5 inches display. The Nexus Marlin, on the other hand, will be named Pixel XL due to the bigger size of 5.5 inches. This will be HTC’s turn to manufacture the new Nexus 2016, so a lot of people are getting excited on how the product would look like.
- Rumored Specifications
The Nexus Sailfish or Google Pixel will have 3GB of RAM and will run the Android 7.1 Nougat. It will also be having the Snapdragon 820 processor together with the 2,770mAh battery. Rumors say that the battery capacity is a bit lower in comparison to other older devices, which may not be so realistic.
However, the Nexus Marlin or Google Pixel XL will have 4GB or RAM and the same time to run Android 7.1 Nougat. The CPU will use the Snapdragon 821 processor and will equip a 3,450mAh battery. Well, the specs might have some differences with the final product.
- More Expensive Devices
The prices of these devices may vary from the actual when finally released. However, rumors say that they might be a bit expensive compared with what Nexus phones were back in 2012. Nevertheless, they are still cheaper than mobile phones manufactured by leading brands with extremely similar specs.
- Is It Over for the Nexus Line?
The announcement of the new Nexus 2016 mobile phones has created a window of doubt that Google is going to ditch the Nexus line of mobile devices. However, it is going to promote the Pixel line in which many have been waiting for its release in the coming month. Well, that remains to be seen until Google has finally unveiled its flagship device.
If you are a Nexus fan, you might be wondering if these phones will still feature reasonable prices, which you have appreciated all these years. According to rumors, it is not going to be that way because the device will feature a premium design that is all-metal. For this reason, it might really be an issue when it comes to prices when the Pixel and Pixel XL will be available in the market a few weeks from now. Moreover, it should be a bit reasonable to have these phones available in plastic models to give everyone a chance to purchase one that should fit their budget.
