Fitbit is one of the most popular fitness trackers and that is saying something in the complicated world of wearables.
Basically, the Fitbit Charge is a wrist band-like device or a subtle wearable that offers information about how many steps you’ve walked/climbed or how much you’ve slept and details about your heart rate. The device was launched two years ago and steadily became a great solution for people’s fitness tracking needs, but users also noticed several problems such as peeling or synchronization issues.
There are many Fitbit versions out there but the last version to come out, the Fitbit Charge 2, fixed most of these issues encountered in the ones that preceded it and it also comes with PurePulse tech which is the newest and most efficient heart rate monitoring system.
Moreover, it has a sleeker design, a new Relax Mode that helps with guided breathing and a better screen that is very useful when reading texts and messages. This last part is actually making it very hard to really tell it apart from a smartwatch.
While the Fitbit Charge 2 is primarily a fitness tracker, it offers certain functions that are not available in the previous generations such as the knowing when you’ve received a call or a message, but this feature doesn’t apply to other apps like Facebook or Slack.
It also comes with awesome battery life, in the sense that it can last for 5 days on a single charge as opposed to a smartwatch that can last for 24 hours at most on a single charge.
The device comes with a 1.5 OLED screen and while it’s touch sensitive, it’s not exactly a touch screen. It can only be used through a combination of tapping and pressing and holding a side button.
The Fitbit charge 2 can be bought for $150.
