A great deal of Nexus devices is already in the process of upgrading to the latest OS from Google – Android Nougat – and manufactures are working hard on developing the Android Nougat platform for their devices.
Xiaomi is one of those manufacturers and they reportedly already have an Android 7.0 Nougat update schedule for their devices. Those devices are believed to be the Mi 5, Redmi Note 4, Redmi 3 amongst many others.
While there is no official announcement in this sense from Xiaomi, tech bloggers believe that the upgrade to Android Nougat for its devices will happen sooner than it did with the Android Marshmallow upgrade. The reason why they believe this is due to the rumor that the upcoming Xiaomi Mi Note 2 or Mi Note Pro will come with Android Nougat straight out of the box. The device has already been approved by the CCC authority in China and it is believed to also run another operating system designed by Xiaomi – the MIUI 8.
The Xiaomi Mi Note 2 will supposedly be launched sometime next month which is very soon from now and tech bloggers believe that if the device will come out already running Android Nougat then the platform will be ready by then for the other Xiaomi devices. It’s also very possible that the Android Nougat upgrade for Xiaomi devices will be released soon after the launch of the Xiaomi Mi Note 2.
As mentioned previously, those devices will probably be the Mi 5, Redmi Note 4, Redmi 3 and a few other devices that don’t have a Snapdragon 801 processor. Unfortunately for the owners of the devices that have this type of processor like the Xiaomi Redmi 1S, Mi 2, Mi 2S, Mi 3, Mi 4, they will not be getting the upgrade because this particular chipset is not compatible with Nougat’s Vulcan API.
