The Pokémon character Mewtwo was first introduced to the world in Pokémon Red and Blue, and since that time, it’s been seen in various sequels, animation adaptations and merchandise.
Jay Goede offers the voice of Mewtwo in Mewtwo Strikes Back and Pokémon Live! Musical. Dan Green voices Mewtwo in Mewtwo Returns. Miriam Pultro voices Mewtwo in the Legend Awakened and Genesect. For Pokémon Go, Mewtwo is a rare Pokémon, which was genetically altered from Mew.
With that in mind, you may be wondering just how difficult it is to catch the Pokémon Go version of Mewtwo.
Pokémon Go has 151 original characters with the rarest being the following:
Players found four of the rare ones shortly after the game was released on July 6. Word spread that they’d be made available during the San Diego Comic-Con event, which occurred on July 21 to July 24. Niantic didn’t make them available. However, the developer confirmed they were going to be available at some point.
While they’re still largely absent from the game, they’ve been teased. Mewtwo was in one of Pokémon Go’s first trailers, causing hundreds of people to get together in Times Square to battle it. The 10-minute timer ticked down before MewTwo was actually captured. This suggests that rare Pokémon may be unlockable via public events.
Players are hopeful game developers will make the dream come true since no one has been able to catch Mew or Mewtwo. One player, who’s managed to catch more than 4,000 Pokémon, is still waiting on catching a Legendary Pokémon to complete the Pokedex.
There was a video being circulated that someone had caught Mewtwo, but it was dismissed as a fake since it can’t be caught in the wild.
