The Android 7.0 Nougat update has already been officially released a number of weeks ago. This update has caused people to go insane over the lack of factory update for the Nexus 6 and Nexus 6P.

The Waiting Game for Nexus 6 and 6P

According to Google executives, these devices should have to wait for another time before a new update will be released for the public. Some people have even spread out false information that there will no longer be an update for the Nexus 6. On the contrary, Google has ensured that a few weeks will be required before the official release will be handed down to the public.

Security Patches Being Developed

The cause of delay was not clear but it seems that Google has made some security patches before rolling out the official release. Without doing so, devices that will install the update will be vulnerable to privacy and security issues. For this reason, Google has made the right choice by delaying the Android Nougat version to the Nexus 6 and Nexus 6P.

Downloading a Custom ROM Instead

If you are getting impatient about the very long wait that you have to undergo, you can download a custom ROM instead and install it on your device. However, installing a custom ROM from an unknown source can cause security issues. In fact, some units will end up getting bricked and useless.

Install Custom ROMs with Caution

Custom ROMs can be downloaded from a reliable site. You simply have to choose form the list of available ROMs compatible with your current device. But you have to do this on your computer. Once downloaded, you have to transfer the zip file to your device via USB cable and copy it on your SD card. Once copied, you need to turn off your Nexus 6 and Nexus 6P and restart by pressing down the home and power button together with the volume up button. Then, you will be able to access the content of your SD card so that you can be able to install the said zip file.
