In October last year, Sony released a new smartphone, the Xperia Z5. It is a phone with a 5.2 inches screen and a Full HD display covered in a scratch-resistant sheet of glass. The producers also included a sleek sheet of glass on its back as well. It runs on a Qualcomm MSM8994 Snapdragon 810 processor, together with 3 GB RAM and it should soon be upgraded to Android 7.0 Nougat. Though the phone by itself offers great specs, there still are some tips and tricks you can use for a better user experience.
- Change themes. Xperia Z5 lets you change the wallpaper on the home screen, how buttons look, what accent colors you are using and other UI elements. If you don’t like the preinstalled themes, you can download others and customize how your phone looks. For changing the UI theme, just press on an empty spot on the home screen and choose Themes from the pop-up menu.
- Turn on Display Modes. If you go to Settings/ Display, you will find there a Smart backlight mode. This means that the phone will use the sensors it has to find out whether you are using the phone or not. It’s useful for instance when you’re reading an article, so that it won’t turn off in the middle of your sentence. Another mode is Glove mode, which lets you use the phone while you’re wearing gloves.
- Stamina Mode. This mode lets you extend the battery life of the Xperia Z5. Go to Settings/ Power Management and when you’re not using the phone, it will kill the background apps that are consuming power. Moreover, you can decide which apps to kill and which not. Perhaps this is the feature that users love the most, since it helps them dose the power they still have in the phone.
