A new WhatsApp version for iOS has been released and it comes with a brand new feature. If you have a device that runs on iOS 10, then you should know that from now on, you will be able to not only send messages to your WhatsApp friends, but also make calls via Siri. This new feature is great, especially if you are driving and can’t use your fingers to type a text message.

It is good to know that the new iOS 10 has started to be released for a good amount of devices since yesterday and it comes with complete Siri support for third-party applications.

After you enable the Siri feature, you will be able to ask it to send a message to someone or call a friend by using a command such as: “Hey Siri, text X Y on WhatsApp”. Once you ask Siri to send a message to someone, it will guide you through the process step-by-step, such as: what’s the message you want to send, who you want to connect with and also confirm everything at the end.

HINT: Make sure that you enable this feature in your smartphone’s Settings or else it will NOT work.

For now, only WhatsApp is supporting the Siri integration, but soon enough this feature will also be brought to the Facebook Messenger. In fact, there were some users who’ve tried to use this feature with Facebook Messenger, but Siri said that “Facebook Messenger hasn’t set that up with me yet”.

You can also ask Siri to answer to incoming voice calls on WhatsApp and this can be done right from the lock screen. WhatsApp has also added a widget that allows you to jump to recent chats and see unread messages with ease.

What are your thoughts about this new feature that WhatsApp for iOS has received?
