Sony Entertainment Asia has just announced that there will be an upcoming PlayStation 4 Slim Luna Edition and that the device has been designed in collaboration with Square Enix – the company responsible for the Final Fantasy game series.
The upcoming console has been showcased at a pre-Tokyo Game Show keynote held by Hajime Tabata, director of the soon to be released Final Fantasy 15 game. Also according to him, the PlayStation 4 Slim Luna Edition has been designed with the game’s main character in mind, Noctis, who gazes at the moon during his travels in the game.
The PlayStation Slim Luna Edition will be launched on the 29th November, in Japan, and it’s priced at 39.980 Yen. It will be launched alongside the upcoming Final Fantasy 15 game which implies that the price of the console also includes a copy of the game plus a digital copy of the movie Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV.
At the moment, there is no official information regarding the release of the console somewhere other than Japan.
There were many rumors and leaks online about two upcoming Sony PlayStation consoles that were supposed to be upgraded versions of the fourth gen of PlayStation. One of them was dubbed PS4 Neo and it was believed to be designed to complement the regular PS4 and the other was believed to be a slimmer and more efficient version of the PS4 that would have ultimately replaced the base version of the fourth gen of consoles.
The PS4 Neo turned out to be the PS4 Pro which was announced recently by Sony and it’s scheduled for release on the 10th of November 2016.
The slimmer Sony PS4 may very well be this latest PlayStation Slim Luna Edition and it appears to have no connection to the fourth gen of consoles, not even when it comes to the number in the name.
