There are several rumors out there about an upcoming Google Nexus 7 2016 tablet to be scheduled for release sometime near the end of this year.

It’s also speculated that the upcoming tablet will be unveiled together with the Nexus Marlin and Sailfish. The latter devices were rumored to showcase the latest Android Nougat OS from Google at its August launch. It didn’t happen so, but the devices are now presumed to be launched on the 4th of October.

Evan Blass, a famed leaker about everything related to smartphones, suggested that the upcoming Nexus 7 2016 tablet will sport 4 GB of RAM and huaweiblog,de posted that the device will come with a 7 inch display.

Other rumors from China state that the tablet will feature a 7 inch QHD display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 px. It will be powered by a Snapdragon SoC chipset and it will have 4 GB of RAM plus 64 GB of internal storage space. Its rear facing camera is believed to be a 13 MP one.

Supposedly, Google will drop de ‘Nexus’ name altogether and continue manufacturing smartphone lineups under the ‘Pixel’ name which means that the Google Nexus 7 2016 might be named Google Pixel 7 2016.

The upcoming device is also expected to be priced like the Google Pixel C tablet or close to it. In any case it’s believed to be expensive given that Google had priced the Nexus 7 smartphone somewhat higher than anticipated when compared to the previous models.

As for release date, there are two rumored periods for that event. One rumor says that the Google Nexus 7 will be launched at the end of this year, while another states that it will be launched together with the latest Nexus devices, Sailfish and Marlin on the 4th of October 2016.
