The first MacBook Pro was released a while ago and since then computing technology has evolved significantly which makes this the perfect opportunity for Apple to release a next gen MacBook Pro which will showcase some of the recent technological advances.
This next generation of MacBook has been dubbed the MacBook Pro 2016 and is rumored to be released sometime this year and to come with many interesting features.
According to KGI Securities analyst Ming Chi Kuo, the upcoming MacBook Pro 2016 will have two variants: a 13 inch one and a 15 inch one. He also said that it will be thinner that the previous generation and that this will require some new kinds of hinges.
The device is also rumored to feature a Touch ID fingerprint reader which will be incorporated into the power button and an OLED display bar that will replace the function keys and it will offer the same functionality as before, but with the option of customizing the functions. It may also come with an USB-C type port that will allow for multiple connections and faster data transfers.
The upcoming MacBook Pro 2016 is also believed to no longer have the 3.5 mm headphone jack. The same thing feature is rumored for the upcoming iPhone 7 model.
In terms of other possible functions, it’s believed that the device will sport a display with 2304 x 1440 px in resolution and to be powered by Skylake processors. Lastly, it’s rumored to be compatible with the Apple Pencil.
Now, all of these are rumors and it’s very possible that the device, if it indeed exists, may not be released this year and it also may not features many of these rumored specs. Most of this information is taken from leaked images of a supposed MacBook Pro 2016 and until Apple doesn’t announce something, don’t get your hopes up.
