Sony’s currently home video console is the PlayStation 4. This console has been released back in November 2013, replacing the old PlayStation 3 console. The console is turning 3 years since it is present in the market and this is the reason why the company wants now to bring a new console, to boost the sales.

PlayStation 4 Neo can either be an update or a replacement, but it is good to know that the current PlayStation 4 is still doing well. In other words, the sales are going great, the console is running games without any big problems and it is currently way more popular than the Xbox One.

However, it seems that Sony wants to come with a new console that can offer better a gaming performance by using more powerful specifications that will allow you to play games at higher resolution.

In concordance with Pocket-lint, even if the next generation PlayStation is still known under the codename PlayStation 4 Neo, there is a good chance that Sony will decide to give it a totally new name once it will be officially released. However, for now, most of the gamers are calling it PS4.5 or PS4 Neo. It seems that even if the current video game console is able to play selected 4K videos and images, it’s basically for local content only, which means that streaming content in 4K is not yet possible. However, PS4 Neo is expected to bring full 4K support and this is the main specification that will attract the customers. The PS4 Neo will feature an octa-core processor clocked at 2.1GHz, an improved graphics processing unit and faster RAM.

Unfortunately, it is not yet known when the PS4 Neo will be released, but rumors are suggesting that this will happen sometime in October 2016.
