It seems that Maxis and The Sims Studios are not thinking about releasing “The Sims 5” anytime soon. It seems that the developing companies are waiting for more new players to purchase “The Sims 4” before they invest a good amount of money in the next title.

Grant Rodiek, an Associate Producer at Electronic Arts (the company that published The Sims 4 game), said that if “The Sims 4” will not make any significant improvements in terms of sales, the Sims 5 won’t be released anymore.

However, we have some good news for “The Sims 4” players, as a new DLC might be released sometime in the upcoming holiday season and it will be named “City Life”. Unfortunately, there are no details about this upcoming DLC, but this might indicate that the developer is preparing for “The Sims 5”.

Recently, many fans of The Sims series became skeptical regarding “The Sims 5”, as Dave Miotke, the producer of The Sims 4, wrote in a twitter post “5M”. In other words, this might mean that 5 million copies of “The Sims 4” have been sold. Soon enough, a fan commented saying that The Sims 2 has sold 6 million copies on PC during its lifespan, while The Sims 4 has made 5 million in just a year and a half. In other words, the sales are not going that bad after all and we might be surprised by the developer with the release of “The Sims 5” sometime in 2017-2018.

However, since there is no confirmation yet regarding “The Sims 5”, fans are quite limited to enjoy the upcoming The Sims 4 DLC. The developer might also try to “revive” The Sims 4 with this new DLC, but also boost up the sales of the title before players lose their interest. According to reports, The Sims 4: City Life DLC will come with: city penthouses, food carts, street markets and different types of neighborhood.
