Android 7.0 Nougat, the latest OS from Google has been launched recently and some lucky users have already upgraded to it. Some of the perks that come with this new OS include improved multitasking, smaller notifications, longer battery life and an overall better Android experience.

Here is an overview of the notable improvements featured by Android 7.0 Nougat.

To begin with, the OS features improved notifications that are flatter and wider and are joined to each other thus making it easier to either choose a relevant one or dismiss all of them at a single glance. Another improvement in terms of notifications is the fact that they now have quick reply functions which means that you can tap the notification and a dialog box will appear where you can type your answer.

The multi-window feature is another improvement courtesy of Android Nougat that enables users to see screens side by side. This feature can be accessed by pressing and holding the overview button. In this split-screen mode, the OS is very similar to iOS or to Windows.

Android Nougat also comes with a battery saving app named Doze 2.0 – a feature that Android Marshmallow has as well – which has proven to be very effective. The app has a very tight control over what the phone does when the screen is off and it resulted in improving the battery life by 20%.

Lastly, it’s worth mentioning the improvements made to the facial recognition system. Naturally, this is a great and safe way to unlock tablets and other devices that don’t have a fingerprint reader and it now works in 80% of the cases, provided that users don’t hide their face under sunglasses or hats.

There are some other smaller improvements featured by the OS but we’ll let you find those out for yourself.
