The Galaxy S7 was launched half a year ago and these days, everyone is excited about the arrival of the Galaxy Note 7 phablet, which was announced earlier this month, with fresh new features. Samsung will probably start building the next S8 flagship in the next months and it will compete with Apple’s iPhone 7 Plus, which is rumored to be released with a dual camera.
A Weibo tipster claims that Samsung has taken into consideration the addition of a dual camera setup for the next Galaxy S8 flagship, as a direct response to Apple’s iPhone 7 Plus, so on its back will be combined a standard 12MP camera similar to the one on the S7, while the other will be a Sony module with 13 MP resolution. So, users should expect a 12 MP + 13 MP combo that will produce nice photos in any environment, as it will shot with a Shallow Depth of Field.
The current selfie camera on the Galaxy S7 is 5MP and users are very satisfied with it, but there’s always room for improvements, so according to the tipster, Samsung will increase the resolution of the front camera to 8MP. In addition, the iris scanner that was introduced on the Note 7 will make its way to the Galaxy S8 and will be used for locking/unlocking the device or for banking services. It’s only an extra security measure which will be appreciated by users who care a lot about the data they store on their devices.
For now, these are the only rumors about the features of the upcoming Galaxy S8. On the other hand, in just eight days, Apple will finally unveil its iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus flagships, which will come with important changes, such as the removal of the 3.5mm port and radio antenna lines, the addition of a lighting port, the introduction of the new A10 chipset etc.
