Continuously growing in popularity, WhatsApp Messenger is a free mobile texting app that allows users to create groups and send messages, videos and images to other phone users using this app. Another interesting feature about this app is that it is a cross-platform mobile application that can be downloaded on Android, iPhone, Sambian, Windows Operating System and the PC. That is, people can send unlimited messages as well as videos, images and audio files to each other regardless if the phone is an iPhone, Samsung, Windows phone or Nokia.

Moreover, there is no need to pay just as when sending an SMS because messages are sent for free so long as there is internet connection or WiFi. So, if you have an internet data plan or there is a WiFi Hotspot, you can connect with your friends and family from any part of the world.

Although this mobile app can be downloaded on several smartphone platforms but there are other phones that have different ways to download the WhatsApp mobile messenger. For Samsung with Java platform, there is the need to download the file with a different file extension. When it comes to the Nokia Asha Series, downloading WhatsApp is different. This is because these phones do not support the WhatsApp mobile app. However, it is still possible to have this app on your Nokia Asha with simple steps.

If you have Nokia Asha 501, you can have a pre-installed WhatsApp on your mobile device if you have the latest software update for your phone. In order to do this, go to Settings and click on Phone Updates. You need to use your mobile data to download your phone updates. After the update, your phone will automatically restart. After, you will see the WhatsApp icon on your phone’s home screen. You can now activate your mobile app by signing up for WhatsApp.

Another way to download WhatsApp for Nokia Asha is by downloading the raw file. Ensure to have sufficient RAM, at least keep 4 MB free before downloading. The raw file will be a zipped file and you have to unzip it. Next, copy the whole folder to your memory card. You might want to do this on your desktop or laptop. Then, go to the folder and make a copy of the app from the memory card to your Games or My Apps folder on your phone. From your phone, click the option button and click on update. Once the update is done, you will have to follow the instructions. When it is finally opening, you will get a notification indicating “updating notification enabler”. Just let it load and ignore its message that your phone is not supported. Next, close the application and try it again. You will find out that your WhatsApp mobile app is installed and working.

The WhatsApp version 2.13.9 released before was in BETA but the features were all the same. Other versions came after the version 2.13.9 and improvements were present as well.
