Good news for owners of the Galaxy Tab S 8.4, who were worried that the tablet will be stuck with Android 5.0.2 Lollipop. Samsung has released this tablet in June 2014 with Android 4.4.2 KitKat out of the box and a month later was brought the larger 10.5-inch. Well, after the LTE variant of the ladder has received the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow in Germany, now the LTE variant of smaller variant started receiving the same software, as well.
Previously, it was rumored that the first generation Galaxy Tab S consoles will not be updated to Marshmallow because they are too old, but soon after that, Samsung has published a document on its websites, where it listed four models that will receive the new update: SM-T705, SM-T705Y, SM-T805, and SM-T8057. After that, it was reported that the 10.5 LTE variant of the Galaxy Tab S received the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow in Germany, which, according to the changelog, it allows users to “exercise greater control over app permissions”. The update brings a redesigned app drawer and it extends battery life with the help of Doze mode. Samsung has also fixed some bugs and included stability improvements.
Now, German owners of the Galaxy Tab S 8.4 LTE are also seeing the update notification, but some who haven’t received the software yet can manually check for it by going to their devices’ Settings > About device > Software update.
