Release date

Google’s Android Nougat 7.0 has been officially launched at the moment, but when you’ll receive the upgrade depends on some conditions. For instance, if you have a Nexus 5X, Nexus 6, Nexus 6P and other devices in the new Nexus range, you will soon get the Android 7.0 Nougat upgrade. According to Google, the update is rolling out now and users will get it soon in the weeks to come. The company has also launched the final version of the update to OEMs to install on the latest and imminent devices.

The final launch of Google’s Android 7.0 Nougat today clearly shows the months of hard work of the company and its super skilled engineers, as well as its excited and dedicated research and development community that helped to bring the platform to where it stands today.

The only shock that Google gave to developers was that the company didn’t wait to declare Android Nougat at the Google’s annual I/O conference this year, rather it announced it earlier this year in March because according to Google, the company wanted to offer developers a couple of months to “get used to” with the update. This means that app developers must be enough prepared now for the rolling out of Android 7.0 Nougat.

Which phones will get the update?

Here is a list of phones and manufacturers that will get the Android N update:

  • It is being said that Sony Xperia Z3 will get the Android N update and will work on the developer edition of the software. But there has nothing been told as to when it and other Sony products will get the official update.
  • Though no time has been set yet, HTC has confirmed that it will be getting Android Nougat to its HTC 10, One M9 and Once A9.
  • Motorola has also confirmed that its Moto G4 Plus will receive Android 7 software soon. But the outlandish thing is Motorola has confirmed that its Moto G4 Plus will be upgraded to Android O in the future. Google hasn’t even declared any such software yet and also there’s no confirmation that Android 8 would be named after the letter O.
  • Samsung says that it will work hard to get the Android Nougat update on its Galaxy Note 7 within the coming two or three months.

Like other major platform updates, Android 7.0 Nougat also includes a complete package of modifications and improvements.

For example, there’s an option for using the menu between the system settings, replying to messages from the notifications bar, improvements in battery and memory performance, a multi-window mode, a built-in VR support (Google Daydream VR), and a new assorted set of emojis.
