Samsung has released its Galaxy J2 back in September 2015, while the Galaxy J2 (2016) come in July 2016. Today we will compare these two smartphones and you will understand how many changes were made to the successor.
The Galaxy J2 measures 136.5x69x8.4mm and weights 129 grams. Its back is made of plastic, it’s available in White, Black or Gold colors and it has a fine texture for a better grip. On the other hand, the Galaxy J2 (2016) is much taller and slimmer, as it measures 142.4×71.1x8mm and weights 138 grams. Its design was changed completely, although it has a similar texture on its removable panel. However, you will notice a group of horizontal stripes that make their way across the middle of the back, being placed below the camera, speaker and LED flash. Also, thanks to the new Smart Glow feature, whenever they receive a new notification, the glow ring around the rear camera will light up in different colors.
The Galaxy J2 has a super AMOLED display of 4.7-inch that supports a resolution of 960×540 pixels at 234 ppi. The Galaxy J2 (2016) has a bigger super AMOLED display of 5-inch that supports a higher resolution of 1280×720 pixels at 294 ppi.
Processors, Graphics Cards & RAM
The Galaxy J2 features an Exynos 3475 Quad chipset, a quad-core Cortex A7 CPU clocked at 1.3GHz, a Mali-T720 graphics card and 1GB of RAM. The Galaxy J2 (2016) comes with a Spreadtrum SC8830 chipset, a quad-core Cortex A7 CPU clocked at 1.5GHz, a Mali-400MP2 graphics card and 1.5GB of RAM.
Both devices have been released with an internal storage of 8GB, which you can expand up to 256GB using a microSD card.
The Galaxy J2 sports a primary camera of 5MP that features LED flash, autofocus, geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection and a secondary camera of 2MP. The Galaxy J2 (2016) has a better primary camera of 8MP that features LED flash, autofocus, panorama, HDR, face detection, touch focus, geo-tagging and a secondary camera of 5MP.
Both devices are powered by removable batteries and their capacities are 2000 mAh (Galaxy J2) and 2600 mAh (Galaxy J2 2016).
