Grand Theft Auto fans are loving GTA 5 and its exciting DLCs, but they’re also eagerly looking forward to GTA 6. Unfortunately, there has been no official word from developer Rockstar Games and publisher Take-Two Interactive about this game.

Granted, Take-Two Interactive mentioned in its official fiscal report that Rockstar Games is “hard at work on some exciting future projects that will be revealed soon”. There’s a theory that the word “projects” refers to the GTA 6, prompting rumors that the game would be announced any time soon. However, both Take-Two Interactive and Rockstar Games have not clarified what specific projects they’re referring to. Many gaming experts are saying that while the publisher may be talking about GTA 6, it’s also possible that their statement refers to Red Dead Redemption, another popular game from Rockstar that’s also due for a sequel.

There are also rumors that Rockstar will make some announcements about GTA 6 during Gamescom 2016, which began on August 16 in Cologne, Germany. Several announcements have already been made during the event — such as Electronic Arts’ showcase of Battlefield 1 and Konami’s revelation of Metal Gear Survive — but, as of this writing, there hasn’t been any news about GTA 6.

Gaming experts think that a GTA 6 announcement during Gamescom 2016 will not happen. This comes from the fact that they’re expecting Rockstar to time the game’s release along with the availability of the Xbox Two from Microsoft and the PlayStation 5 from Sony, which means that we’ll see the new game sometime between 2018 and 2020. This theory is highly plausible; by doing this, Rockstar ensures high sales for GTA 6 since fans will most likely want to play the latest game in the franchise on the newest video game consoles.

If this holds true, we’ll probably see a trailer for GTA 6 between 2017 and 2019, if Rockstar sticks to the tradition of releasing a trailer a year before a new game is made available.
