WhatsApp is one of the most popular mobile applications out there and it is currently available for Android, iOS, Windows Phone, Windows 10 Mobile, BlackBerry, Nokia Symbian and Nokia S40. Unfortunately, the application will stop working before the end of 2016 on devices that run on BlackBerry, Nokia Symbian and Nokia S40, so if you want to keep using this application, you’d better purchase a device that runs on either Android, iOS, Windows Phone or Windows 10 Mobile.
Anyway, today we will talk about the WhatsApp Desktop Application that the developers have released and we’ll teach you how to install it on your computer. First of all, you should know that you will still require a mobile device that has installed WhatsApp on it in order to use the WhatsApp Desktop Application on your computer. This is because the WhatsApp application from your mobile device will act as a “gateway” and it will handle all the incoming and on-going messages.
Now that you know this, open the browser on your computer and head to whatsapp.com/download. Here you will see a “Download For Windows” button somewhere in the middle-left side of the window. When the download is complete, you will need to run the WhatsAppSetup.exe file and complete the installation process. After finishing the installation, you will need to open the WhatsApp Desktop Application on your Windows PC.
You will notice that there is a QR code in there, which you will need to scan with your mobile device. To scan the QR code with your mobile device, open the WhatsApp application on your smartphone, tap on the option button, select “WhatsApp Web” feature and scan the QR code using the rear camera of the device. Once you do this, you will be logged into your WhatsApp account via the WhatsApp Desktop Application. Keep in mind that the mobile device will need to stay connected to the internet, because it will not function without it (since it acts as a gateway for the WhatsApp Desktop Application).
