Even if there was some misunderstood leaked info in the past, Android fans are more eager than ever to get their hands on the new Android 7.0 Nougat. The Canadian carrier Telus just slipped a date for the release of the new OS and it seems to be the 22nd of August! And the best part is that this is less than three days away.
9to5Google first reported the news since they got the Software Update Schedule from a very credible source, the official forums at Telus. The schedule showed the plan for rolling out the new software for the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P. And what’s more convincing is the fact that it was the same schedule used for pinning the date of the release of the Android 6.0.1 security update that was finished in the beginning of this month.
Up until now we have previews on the Android 7.0 for LG G5, Huawei P9, Xperia X Performance, the two devices from Google Nexus and Sony Xperia Z3. This means that people who own a LG, Sony or Huawei might be the first ones to receive the update, and this might happen sooner than they might expect.
However, the Nexus owners have all the reasons to be the happiest since they will surely be the first one who will get the update for the OS. The rest of the Android users (whether they are using a flagship smartphone or not) will have to wait until the manufacturers start the OTA rollouts. Lacking any other information, this might mean waiting for days or even months, sadly.
The Android 7.0 Nougat version is expected to bring a better and clearer design, some new notifications, multitasking in split-screen, Project Svelte, a customizable Quick Setting menu and many other features.
