Minecraft Windows 10 edition is due to receive Oculus Rift support some time this month however the release date for this has not yet been confirmed by by Mojang; this update has been confirmed to be free for all Minecraft Windows 10 owners.
PC players who own the original PC version of Minecraft can upgrade to the Windows 10 edition for free if they have the Windows 10 OS installed on their PC. The period of free Windows 10 updates is now over and any PC users who still want to upgrade to the next OS will need to purchase it.
The Oculus Rift is not the first VR headset to be supported by Minecraft; in April 2016, the game gained support for the Samsung Gear VR which requires the use of a gamepad. The Oculus Rift version will also require the use of one however, the VR headset includes more features such as an external camera and it’s expected that it will bring more features to the Minecraft VR experience.
While the official release date has not yet been provided, this update will supposedly arrive some time this month.
