Yesterday Samsung has released the Galaxy Note 7 after a long time of waiting. Contrary to the expectations, the new device is not called Note 6, since the team skipped a number in order to align all their devices. It incorporates a blend between the features of Note 5, which was released last year, and the S7 Edge, released this year. On August 19th the device will become available for all main carriers. Starting with the 3rd of August, you will be able to preorder your own device.
Samsung declared that the prices will match the previous Note products, but they will surpass the one for S7 Edge, which is around $800. Later on, the company will release an unlocked version for Note 7 in the US.
Years in a row, Samsung has pushed forward their Note series by improving the specs they offered. However, it seems that they changed a little bit their approach: Note 7 seems to have the same specs as the S7 or its Edge version. It is based on the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset, 4 GB RAM, quick (wireless) charging, 12 MP back camera and optical stabilization.
Moreover, it is water resistant and it allows the use of microSD cards, features that weren’t included in the Note 5 released last year. The new device comes with 64 GB internal memory (unlike the 32 GB found on S7) and it has a 3500 mAh battery, bigger than the one found on Note 5, of 3000 mAh. It is also based on a curved Super AMOLED display offering a quad HD resolution. The curved design is in fact an innovation for the Note series, and the producers declared that this makes it 2.2 mm smaller in width than Note 5.
