Sharing is caring!

Are you a WhatsApp fan and an Android device user? If you are, it’s time to rejoice since the popular messaging app has released a couple of new beta updates. These updates have brought about several new features that will hopefully make it into the stable version, such as:

Call Back

If you call someone who doesn’t answer his phone or cancels the call, you’ll be presented with three options. One of these is “Call Back”, which is a new feature that’s available in WhatsApp for Android beta version 2.16.189. Tapping “Call Back” will automatically redial the number that you’ve tried to call, which is great if you’re in a hurry and need to reach a friend ASAP.

Voicemail Recording

Another new feature that comes with beta version 2.16.189 is voicemail recording. It will appear on the screen along with “Call Back” and “Cancel” when the person you’re calling declines the call or fails to pick up his phone. Choosing “Record voice message” allows you to speak the message you want to deliver, record it on your phone, and send the voice message through chat.

FixedSys Font

WhatsApp for Android beta version 2.16.179 has brought along FixedSys, a monospaced, plain text font that makes your messages look like snippets of code. Using it a great way to put emphasis on important messages or even just spice up your WhatsApp chats with friends. To use the font, simply type the grave accent symbol (`) three times before your message and three times after. It’s not really convenient — particularly if you don’t know where to find (`) on your phone — so it’s not always feasible to use if you’re in a hurry.

These are just some of the new features that the latest WhatsApp for Android updates have brought. To get them, you can register to become a beta tester for WhatsApp on Google Play or download the appropriate APK from APK Mirror.
