WhatsApp is one of the most used mobile messaging applications out there. Today we will talk about a new WhatsApp version that has just been released for Android devices.
The WhatsApp 2.16.185 is the latest BETA version for Android devices, but it doesn’t bring any new features or options. However, it seems that, internally, the developers have changed a lot of stuff and if we look at what’s inside the APK (installation) file, we can figure out what’s about to come in a future WhatsApp version.
The WhatsApp 2.16.185 APK (installation) file has been increased by 339KB, it has 679 modified files, most of them being related to the Google services. The developers have also removed 87 files from the APK file, all related to some old icons that have been replaced by new ones.
We have also noticed 218 new files that have been added to the APK file, most of them being related to the new icons. A “JSR 305” directory file has been added and it has a Jsr305_annotation.gwt.xml file inside it. New files and buttons for maps have been added such as: place_autocomplete_item_prediction.xml, place_autocomplete_fragment.xml or place_autocomplete_progress.xml.
When it comes to the rumored Video Calling feature, there is no news about it and it’s not sure yet when it will be released, because WhatsApp continues to stay mum.
