The MacBook Pro 2016 will be released this fall, but no specific date was specified. Microsoft hasn’t even confirmed the rumored specs, but there are plenty self proclaimed sources claiming that the upcoming laptop will be significantly thinner and lighter than the MacBook Air brand, and this is one of the reasons why the latter could be discontinued.
However, not everyone believes that Apple will no longer release the next MacBook Air model, but they think that the device will arrive next year. According to recent reports, Apple has already started developing the MacBook Air 2017 and the laptop will make its appearance in spring.
As for the MacBook Pro 2016, its rumored specs include an OLED touch screen bar, a fingerprint scanner supporting Touch ID, the awaited wireless charging, 5K video technology, multiple USB Type C ports and an Intel Skylake processor that will not drain the battery very fast, despite of its small capacity – as Apple will try to break its record and build the smallest MacBook Pro ever.
N the other hand, the MacBook Air 2017 is rumored to come with a new “tweaked cooling method,” bigger RAM and a more efficient battery that will last longer. Also, compared to its predecessor and the 2016 MacBook Pro, the future model will be thinner and lighter. Unfortunately, we don’t have any information about the approximate thinness and weight of any of the two upcoming laptops.
Without a doubt, the USB Type C ports will be present on both devices. The MacBook Air 2017 is expected to arrive in two screen variants of 13- and 15-inch, and they will cost less than the 2016 MacBook Pro.
There are many unconfirmed details, but we’ll keep hearing new rumors and Apple will eventually make the move and release the next MacBook Pro and MacBook Air, in this order.
