Huawei has released its Honor 7 device in July 2015 and now it is preparing to release its successor, the Honor 8 smartphone, which will be also very cheap and very advanced. Today we will compare these two handsets and tell you what has changed in one year.


The Huawei Honor 7 measures 143.2×71.9×8.5mm and weights 157 grams. It has a good looking all-metal housing with a square rear camera in the central top and a fingerprint scanner below it. On the other hand, the Huawei Honor 8 is slimmer and lighter as it measures 145.5x71x7.5mm and weights 153 grams. The manufacturer has replaced the metal back with a glass one, which comes in colors such as Pearl White, Sunrise Gold, Midnight Black, Sakura Pink and Sapphire Blue. The fingerprint scanner is rounded and in the same place, but about the new dual rear camera we’ll tell you below.


Both devices come with an IPS NEO LCD display of 5.2-inch that supports a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels at 424 ppi.

Processors, Graphics Cards & RAM

The Huawei Honor 7 features a HiSilicon Kirin 935 chipset, a quad-core Cortex A53 CPU clocked at 2.2GHz and a quad-core Cortex A53 CPU clocked at 1.5GHz, a Mali-T628 MP4 graphics card and 3GB of RAM. The Huawei Honor 8 has a HiSilicon Kirin 950 chipset, a quad-core Cortex A72 CPU clocked at 2.3GHz and a quad-core Cortex A53 CPU clocked at 1.8GHz, a Mali-T880 MP4 graphics card and 3GB or 4GB of RAM.


The Huawei Honor 7 has been released in three internal storage variants of 16GB, 32GB and 64GB, which you can expand up to 256GB using a microSD card. The Huawei Honor 8 comes in two internal storage variants of 32GB and 64GB, but you can expand it up to 256GB using a microSD card.


The Huawei Honor 7 sports a primary camera of 20MP that features dual-LED flash, phase detection autofocus, geo-tagging, HDR, panorama, face detection, touch focus and a secondary camera of 8MP. The Huawei Honor 8 has a dual-primary camera of 12MP placed in the upper left corner, which has laser autofocus, dual-LED flash, geo-tagging, HDR, panorama, touch focus and face detection, while the secondary camera is 8MP.


The Huawei Honor 7 is powered by a non-removable battery of 3100 mAh, which is slightly more powerful than the 3000 mAh non-removable battery that the Huawei Honor 8 will have.
