Although there were fears about its growth when it was acquired by Facebook, the company was able to grow from strength to strength. Over the years, it has maintained its user base and even expanded it, reaching one billion users as of April 2016. The company has also recently announced that over 100 million voice calls are being made through the app every day, cementing its reputation as one of the best messaging applications.


Despite these, there are still a lot of people who don’t use WhatsApp. If you’re one of these folks, don’t worry since you can easily download the app and give it a try. You can start by taking the following steps:

For Mobile Phones

WhatsApp runs on almost all mobile operating systems so, no matter what phone you use, it’s highly likely that it can support the messaging app. If you own an Android, BlackBerry, or Nokia phone, you can download WhatsApp directly from its official website by opening the following URLs in your device:

  • for Nokia S40 and Asha phones
  • for Nokia Symbian and S60 phones

You can also download WhatsApp from app stores like Google Play, BlackBerry World, and Opera Mobile Store.

If you own an iOS or Windows Phone device, you’ll need to download WhatsApp from your phone’s official app store, which are iTunes and Microsoft Store.

Before downloading WhatsApp, though, you should first check if your phone meets the minimum requirements for the app. Android phones, for example, must be running on Android OS 2.1 or above. BlackBerrry phones, meanwhile, must have BlackBerry OS 5.0 or above as well as BlackBerry Internet Service or BlackBerry Enterprise Service. An unlimited data plan is also recommended so you can use WhatsApp without having to worry about hefty data fees.

If you own a Windows PC or a Mac computer, you can use WhatsApp on your desktop unit. Simply visit to download the appropriate file and install it in your computer. Take note, though: you can’t use WhatsApp on your Mac or PC if you don’t have the app in your mobile phone. This comes from the fact that the desktop application will be connected to your mobile app and will reflect the conversations you have in your phone.
