Samsung has released its Galaxy J2 device back in September 2015, while the Galaxy J2 (2016) – its successor, is expected to arrive by the end of this month. Today we will compare these two smartphones and see what has changed.

Designs

The Galaxy J2 measures 136.5x69x8.4mm and weights 129 grams. Its body is made entirely of plastic and the available colors are White, Black and Gold. On the other hand, the Galaxy J2 (2016) is slimmer, as it measures 142.4×71.1x8mm, but its weight hasn’t been specified. Likewise its predecessor, it has a plastic body with rounded corners and a chrome bezel, but on the back you’ll see a Smart Glow notification ring around the rear camera and the Samsung logo is placed over a group of horizontal lines that extend along the sides.



Displays

The Galaxy J2 has a super AMOLED display of 4.7-inch that supports a resolution of 960×540 pixels at 234 ppi. The Galaxy J2 (2016) comes with a bigger super AMOLED display of 5-inch that supports a higher resolution of 1280×720 pixels at 294 ppi.

Processors, Graphics Cards & RAM

The Galaxy J2 features an Exynos 3475 Quad chipset, a quad-core Cortex A7 CPU clocked at 1.3GHz, a Mali-T720 graphics card and 1GB of RAM. The Galaxy J2 (2016) has a Spreadtrum SC8830 chipset, a quad-core Cortex A7 CPU clocked at 1.5GHz, a Mali-400MP2 graphics card and 1.5GB of RAM.

Storages

The Galaxy J2 has an internal storage of 8GB which you can expand up to 256GB using a microSD card. The Galaxy J2 (2016) will be released with an internal storage of 8GB, but you will be able to expand it up to 128GB using a microSD card.

Cameras

The Galaxy J2 sports a primary camera of 5MP that features LED flash, autofocus, touch focus, geo-tagging, face detection and a secondary camera of 2MP. The Galaxy J2 (2016) has a better primary camera of 8MP that features LED flash, autofocus, geo-tagging, touch focus, panorama, face detection, HDR and a secondary camera of 5MP.

Batteries

The Galaxy J2 is powered by a 2000 mAh removable battery which is less powerful than the removable battery of 2600 mAh that the Galaxy J2 (2016) will come with.
