Free services come with a cost: they’re full of advertising, because somehow, companies must earn money and they allow other companies to place their ads, for a fair price. There are users who hate ads and they’re willing to pay good money on premium subscriptions. For example, Play Music Unlimited and YouTube Red are charging their subscribers $9.99 per month, but they no longer see annoying ads. Google is trying to lure more users to become paying customers, and it’s offering an attractive deal: four months of free.

If you’ve already tried one of the two services and you’ve cancelled your subscription, you’re not eligible to take advantage of this deal, as it’s exclusive for new customers. SlickDeals has reported that some users have previously signed up for free Google Play Music promotions and they stopped their active subscriptions before deals expired and they’ve signed up again, when Google ran a new promotion, and it worked. They avoided this restriction by logging out and clicking the “sign up” button. However, we can’t guarantee that this will work for everyone and in case you’ve participated before in Google’s promotions, you should expect to be rejected and to be forced to pay for the service.

However, if you want to use Music Unlimited or YouTube Red for free in the next four months, and to avoid paying around $40, then make sure that you cancel the subscription before the end date.

Google Play Music was launched in 2011, being a music streaming service and online music locker that allows users to upload and listen up to 50,000 songs for free, from their libraries. It offers a paid on-demand music streaming service called “All Access”, which is sold in combination with YouTube Red and allows users to create custom radio stations, to on-demand stream any song in the Google Play Music catalogue etc.

YouTube Red is exclusive for the US, Australia, New Zealand and some targeted channels for electronic games in Brazil. You should not confuse it with RedTube, which is a porn website.
