Microsoft is running a new promotion, which is in celebration of the Windows 10 anniversary that will be released on August 2. According to Terry Myerson, head of Windows and devices at Microsoft, until August 14, you will be able to buy the Surface Pro 4 2-in-1 convertible tablet and get a $300 Xbox One console for free. The deal is available for the Surface Book as well, but the Xbox One S isn’t eligible, because this console will start shipping at the end of August.
Don’t get too excited, because this offer is only for students, who will get a free Xbox One console if they will buy the Surface Pro 4 or Surface Book tablets. Soon, Microsoft will release a Windows 10 Anniversary update for its last operating system that was brought a year ago, and the company is celebrating this event through a series of deals. In the past weeks, the American giant has offered discounts on its Surface Pro 4, but mostly because it wants to make room for the upcoming Surface Pro 5, but that’s another story.
Recently, Microsoft has revealed that it will end producing the Surface 3 tablet, but it’s not sure if the company will bring a successor any time soon. This is a much cheaper and weaker version of the popular Surface Pro devices, costing between $499 and $699, while the Surface Pro 4 is priced between $899 and $1,799.
However, students will be able to buy the Surface Pro 4 with an Intel Core m3 and 128GB of storage for $878, and they will get the Xbox One 500GB console with “Gears of War” game for free. Besides the game, customers will also get an additional controller and $50 gift code.
The Surface Book is a little more expensive, costing between $1,499 and $3,199, but its price is justified, as it comes with the sixth generation Intel Core i5 and i7 processors, 128GB to 1TB of internal storage and 8GB to 16GB of RAM.
