WhatsApp has over 1 billion monthly active users which makes it one of the most popular mobile applications out there. Today we will talk about the latest WhatsApp version for Windows Phone devices, which is 2.16.102.
The new WhatsApp 2.16.102 comes with performance improvements and UX tweaks. In addition, the latest update comes with a tweak for the image gallery, which will now be faster than before. In other words, when you will go to the Gallery for selecting an image, instead of getting to the “All images” Section, you will go to the Folders page.
For some reason, the new WhatsApp 2.16.102 will not allow you to copy the messages that you have received in groups. However, we remind you that the WhatsApp 2.16.102 is currently in BETA phase, which means that this might change once the new public version of the application will be released.
Unfortunately, there is no news regarding the rumored “Video Calling” feature, which is expected to be released firstly for Android OS and after that for iOS and Windows Phone/Windows 10 Mobile. The developers of WhatsApp didn’t confirm yet if this feature is in the works, but we are pretty sure that they will bring it to the application in order to keep up the pace with other rival applications.
While the WhatsApp application is very popular, there is a downside of it – hackers are now trying to infect the users of this application with a new malware. The new malware is able to spoof the user interface of the WhatsApp application in order to steal credit card information.
FireEye, a security vendor said that the malware is used on Android users from Germany, Denmark and Italy, but it is expected to attack other countries soon. The same security vendor company claims that, currently, there are over 50 malicious programs that are using the same overlay technique and that we should install an antivirus program on our mobile devices. At the same time, we should not open strange emails or messages that we receive from unknown persons.
