Pokémon Sun and Moon will be series’ 7th generation, and is expected to be released for the Nintendo 3DS in the fall. What’s known about the games?
The official release date is set for November 18, 2016 for Australia, Japan and North America, and a little later in the month for Europe.
Pokémon Sun and Moon is set in a tropical area called the Alola region – Hawaii inspired, perhaps. Just a single, small island has been made public, and with it being inspired by the state of Hawaii, chances are there are a chain of islands.
What Users Can Expect With The New Games
For the first time ever, Pokémon Sun and Moon will be found in nine languages:
- Traditional Chinese
- Simplified Chinese
It will also use the Pokémon Bank so that players can keep and transfer Pokémon to the new games. This means players can transfer the Pokémon in other games (Blue, Red and Yellow) by way of those games’ Virtual Console releases into the Pokémon Bank.
Player – Like other game series, the player can be either a male or female. Similar to X and Y, the player can choose their character’s appearance – how much customization can be done is still not known.
Kukui – In the Sun and Moon trailer, Kukui welcomes players to Alola. Kukui is another kind of tree, which could mean that he’s another professor in the game (first is Hala). He may actually be a Pokémon professor based on his clothing. Kukui calls the player “cousin”, not an indication that the player and he are related.
Professor Hala – Hala, which means a kind of tree, is the one that presents the starter Pokémon.

What Are The Thoughts Behind The Pokémon Sun and Moon Games
There are several theories as what will happen in the Pokémon Sun and Moon games.
Vehicles – In the announcement trailer for Pokémon Sun and Moon, there was a glimpse that game players would be using vehicles to get around. These vehicles include a truck, fire engine and ambulance.
Second Region – There are some players think Alola will be just one of several regions game players will be exposed to. Similar to the way the second Pokémon game generation (Crystal, Silver and Gold) opened, it’s potentially possible another region such as Unova and Kalos will be added to the mix. No confirmation on this just yet.
Zygarde – Since there’s been no Pokémon Z to go along with Pokémon X and Y, there’s been a plethora of information regarding the sixth generation of legendary Pokémon known as Zygarde. There are players who believe this Pokémon is going to have a big role in this generation.
As it stands currently, there are some things fans know and others that are just theories. Whatever the case may be, one thing is certain: Pokémon fans are waiting anxiously for Pokémon Sun and Moon to be released in the fall.
