Facebook has been adding some mini games and even though they’ve been out for a while, not everyone might know about them. There’s three games out right now so let’s take a look at what they are, keep in mind though, the other person will be able to see your score in the chat window and you two might end up in a high-score chase which may last several hours.

All of these mini-games are made possible via emojis, except the Chess game, which is simply a chat command.

Basketball Facebook Basketball

Probably the most easiest game out of all three, you don’t need to learn anything at all, simply swipe the ball into the basket and you’ll score a point. Fail to do so and your current points will become your final score for that run.

To start a game of basketball, simply send the basketball emoji to the other person and tap it once it’s in the chat window.

Once you leave the game screen, the other person will get a message notifying them about your failure, keep in mind that your swipe direction determines where the ball will go, so always swipe from the centre of the ball to the basket.

Not as infuriating as the next game, but still quite fun if your friend wishes to chase high-scores against you.

Facebook Soccer

More infuriating than Basketball yet more fun at the same time, simply keep the ball from falling off the screen by tapping, remember that the ball will bounce off the edges and your tap will determine which way it’ll bounce (if you top the bottom right edge, it’ll bounce towards the left).

To start a game of soccer, simply send the soccer (or football, depending on where you’re from) emoji to the other person and tap it once it’s in the chat window.

Similar to the scoring system of Basketball, every successful tap is a point, once the ball touches the ground your score is locked and saved.

By the way, you can always keep playing the game even if you’re scoring less than your current high score, the high score only changes when someone scores higher than it, likewise the other person will only learn about your highest score in the current session, they won’t be able to tell how many times you failed either.

Definitely one of the harder games to get into but that’s mostly because of the lack of UI, the game is played by using the standard chess commands in conjunction with @fbchess, simply type “@fbchess play” to start the game, the other person will get to play White if you start the game, alternatively you can pick sides and learn all the standard commands by typing in “@fbchess help”

Here’s the complete message that you get once you ask for help.

Start game with random colors: @fbchess play
Pick the colors: @fbchess play white/black
Pick the opponent: @fbchess play white John
Make a move: use Standard Algebraic Notation
