According to reports, HTC will create a successor of the LG Nexus 5X, which is code-named “Sailfish”. Why this name? Because all Nexus devices are codenamed with names of deep-sea creatures. This is the second device built by the Taiwanese company for Google, as the first one was the Nexus 6P flagship phablet. Android Police has released a list of speculated specs of features of the upcoming device.
The alleged specs of “Sailwish” include a 5-inch Full HD screen, a quad-core 2.0GHz processor backed by 4GB of RAM and a battery of 2,770mAh. Its internal memory could have a capacity of 32GB and the cameras are expected to support resolutions of 12MP and 8MP. Other features include a fingerprint scanner on the back, below the camera, an USB Type-C port, bottom firing speakers, a top mounted headphone jack and Bluetooth 4.2. Huawei hasn’t confirmed any of these details, or if it will make the next Nexus model, but soon, more information will come to light.
The LG Nexus 5X was released last fall and has a plastic body, which measures 147 x 72.6 x 7.9 mm and weights 136 grams. It’s IPS LCD screen has a diagonal of 5.2-inch and supports a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels at 423, benefiting from Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. On its back, it has a camera of 12.3MP with an aperture of f/2.0, and features such as laser autofocus and dual-LED (dual tone) flash, and under it is located the fingerprint scanner. The other camera, for selfies, is placed above the screen and has a resolution of 5MP. Under the hood, the device houses a Qualcomm MSM8992 Snapdragon 808 chipset that’s powered by a quad-core 1.44 GHz Cortex-A53 CPU and dual-core 1.82 GHz Cortex-A57 CPU. The RAM capacity is 2GB and the two variants of internal memories have capacities of 16GB and 32GB, but they’re not expandable. As for the battery, it has an average capacity of 2700mAh.
