In today’s comparison, our picks are the newest model by Motorola, the amazing G4 Plus that rolled out in May 2016. The other phone we are comparing to the G4 Plus is Xiaomi’s brand new bestseller, the Redmi Note 3 which was officially released in February this year.
On a first look, both phones look great, featuring a 5.5 inch display. Their design is simple yet modern and tailored to the palm. In fact, the phones lookalike and their rectangular design focused on the great pixel screen remains the same. When it comes to software and performance, they also perform well. While the Redmi Note 3 is powered by the quad-core Qualcomm MSM8956 Snapdragon 650, Motorola’s G4 Plus has a similar quad-core Snapdragon 617 chipset. Both of the phones have a similar GPU (Adreno 510 and Adreno 405).
The card slot remains the same with a microSD availability that can be upgraded up to 256 GB of RAM. The only difference card-wise is with the SIM, simply because the Redmi Note 3 has a dual SIM availability. Speaking of such availability, both of the phones come in variations. Redmi Note 3’s internal storage can be purchased as 16GB with 2 GB RAM or 32 GB with 3 GB of RAM memory. On the other hand, the G4 Plus has the same variations with an extra one – 64GB of internal storage with 4GB RAM. Speed and storage – wise, the G4 Plus is the winner with this option accordingly.
The camera is the next feature we are reviewing. If we see both phones’ cameras, we can see that both of them shoot pretty good images with 16 megapixels, a phase detection autofocus and dual LED flash on both front and rear cameras. However, Redmi Note’s front camera comes at 1080p resolution which is something that sets it apart from the competition and in our case – the G4 Plus by Motorola.
Some of the impressive extra features that are shared on both phones include the fast battery charging, a document viewer and a photo and video editor. They both have a non-removable battery which is better in the Redmi Note 3, mostly because of the Li-Po 4000 mAh power which is better compared to G4 Plus’ 3000 Li-Ion 3000 mAh battery.
In the end, we can certainly say that the Redmi Note 3 is the clear winner of this ‘battle’. It is no secret that the Note 3 is the most popular phone in the moment, and the special features such as XViD/mp4/WAV/eAAC+ and other players, the battery and the better (front) camera set it apart from the G4 Plus. Although Motorola made a great leap forward with the G4 Plus as a model, it seems like the Redmi Note 3 is the hottest pick of the year. The price also confirms this and states that the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 comes as a real bang for the buck.
Which of these two phones would you prefer having? Or already have? What is your hottest pick at the moment?
