HTC’s One (M8) was already upgraded to Android 6.0 Marshmallow, but users who don’t like the Sense UI and want a different interface on this phone can try out the custom ROM released by developer community Blues. On the other hand, those who are looking for a new tablet might be interested in purchasing the new Asus ZenPad Z8 that costs $249.99 and has front-facing speakers, VisualMaster and which is powered by a mid-range processor.
First, we’ll tell you how you can install the Blues Android Marshmallow custom ROM on your HTC One (M8) connected to Verizon, Sprint or unlocked GSM. This custom ROM has a cool interface, offering colored Navbar, performance tweaks, network traffic monitor and many other useful features.
Before installing Blues Android Marshmallow custom ROM, root your device, install Clockwork Mod (CWM) Recovery/TWRP, the USB driver and make sure that you have 80 percent battery left. You will download both the Blues Android Marshmallow custom ROM and Google Apps to your computer, then connect your phone and copy the files into the SD card memory. Then, place boot.img file in the android-sdk-windowsplatform-tools directory, turn off the phone and unplug it from the PC.
Restart your phone and press hold Volume down and Power buttons to perform the regular Bootloader mode, then go to android-sdk-windowsplatform-tools on your PC and open Command prompt. You will type in “fastboot flash boot boot.img”, then you’ll press enter and after that, you’ll type in “fastboot reboot”, select Bootloader and enter Recovery Mode. After that, you’ll clear the phone memory by selecting “wipe data/factory reset”, then clear the cache memory by selecting “wipe cache partition” and you’ll return to the ClockworkMod recovery, where you’ll select “Advanced” and “wipe dalvik cache”. Next, you’ll return to the main recovery screen and you’ll select “install zip from SD card”, then tap “choose zip from sdcard”. Now, head to your SD card, locate the Android 6.0 Marshmallow ROM .zip file and tap on it to start the installation process. Do the same for Google Apps and in the end, go to “++++Go Back+++++”, then select “reboot system now” to restart your phone. After a few minutes, the boting process will complete and you will go to Settings and confirm the installation of Blues Android Marshmallow custom ROM by selecting “About phone”.
