In March 2015, Apple has released an updated version of the 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina, while the bigger model with a 15-inch screen was updated in May. Fans were expecting the 2016 versions to be announced at this year’s WWDC, but Apple focused only on software updates, which means that the MacBook Pro lineup will most likely get the new versions later this year. There are many rumors about the specs of the MacBook Pro 2016 and in this article we’ll tell you everything you need to know about the upcoming laptop.
According to some reports, Apple will be able to release new MacBook Pros later this year and these new laptops will be featured with Skylake processors, special hinges, and even touchscreen keyboards. Apple’s MacBook Pro lineup was last time updated in 2015 when the 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina received important updates in March and similarly the 15-inch MacBook Pro was refreshed in May. Obviously, new versions of the MacBook Pro are a little bit prominent.
Reports claim that Apple is currently developing the upcoming 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Pros and they will be released in the quarter of 2016. Apple has redesigned the hinges, as they are produced by Ampenol (it makes hinges for the Surface Pro convertible tablets) using “metal injection molding”. This metalworking process is used to obtain small metal pieces that are found inside iPhones and the Apple Watch and this technology will help Apple to achieve an “untra-thin” design for its next MacBook Pro laptop, by saving a lot of space.
The MacBook Pro 2016 will be powered by the latest generation Intel Skylake processors, which not only will offer a better performance, but also they’ll increase battery life. Other rumors were suggesting that the upcoming laptop will have detachable touchscreen, but there are more chances to see a touchscreen keyboard.
Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believes that the laptop will have an OLED display touch bar above the keyboard which will replace the physical function keys. He also said that the MacBook Pro 2016 will come with USB-C ports and Thunderbolt 3.
