If you happen to be HTC Vive owner and a Fallout 4 player, we have exciting news for you! Fallout 4 will soon be debuting on the HTC VR headset and you’ll be able to experience the awesome post apocalyptic Boston as if you were truly there.
And it gets better! If you are a Doom fan, you’ll also be getting the VR version of it as well.
This was announced two days ago at the E3 conference by Bethesda Softworks. The vice president of Bethesda, Pete Hines said that Fallout 4 will be released for HTC Vive in 2017, and the Doom game will soon follow, but it’s not very clear if the Doom VR version will be released in 2017 as well. It’s also not quite clear if it’s going to be a VR game version or just a ‘vitual tour of Hell’ as Hines put it.
All of this was also confirmed on Twitter along with the great news that there will be three more DLCs coming for Fallout 4 in the near future. These DLCs will be named Nuka World, Contraptions Workshop and Vaultec Workshop and the awesome detail about them is that they will also come in a VR format for HTC Vive.
Bethesda has also admitted that making a Fallout 4 version for VR will be a hard task and it will imply tweaks to the game’s conversation interface and to the HTC Vive motion controllers.
Another issue that may arise is related to the motion sickness that people sometimes feel when under a VR headset and there’s content that involves running for a great distance. That also has to be fixed somehow.
Lastly, when those games come out some argue that they will remain exclusive to the HTC headset while others say that they will be available to other headsets as well, such as Oculus Rift or Samsung Gear VR.
