Samsung and At&T have recently announced that there will be an all new version of the Galaxy S7, known as the Galaxy S7 Active, which will go side by side with the S7 and S7 edge. The smartphone became available for purchase on the 10th of June.

Here is some information regarding Samsung Galaxy S7 Active that you absolutely need to know if you’re considering buying one.

Availability and pricing

Firstly, Samsung Galaxy S7 Active became available only two days ago and it comes in three different colors: Titanium Gray, sandy gold and Camo Green. The contract prices vary depending on the carrier and they are between 26.50 dollars for 30 months and 33.13 dollars/ month for 24 months. AT&T used to offer phones at 199 dollars for a 2 year contract but it no longer offers those. This means that customers can just change their smartphones on a monthly basis.

Specs and features

S7 Active is just as good as the regular S7, but with a few useful tweaks like a Shatter-proof display, three hardware buttons on the front side (as opposed to the Home Button and the Touch keys that we can see on all of the other Samsung smartphones) and a 4,000 mAh battery that will make it last longer than any other Samsung Galaxy device so far. As for the latter feature, know that it also comes with a Quick Charge 2.0 feature technology which means that it can charge up to 50% in 30 minutes and 100% in less than two hours.

Waterproof and Shatter Proof Display

Basically, the Active models are supposed to be very durable and as a result are waterproof with an IP68 certificate for dust, drop and water protection. This means that they can be submerged in water for over 30 minutes.

Apart from this, Samsung also claims that this is the first smartphone with a Shatterproof display which means that the screen won’t break no matter how hard it may be damaged. However, it may get easily scratched because it doesn’t feature the Gorilla Glass 4 that other Galaxy phones sport.

Shortcut button for Activity Zone

Apart from the regular hardware buttons found on almost all smartphones, Samsung Galaxy S7 Active also features an Activity Zone physical button on the left that launches the Activity Zone apps such as stopwatch, flashlight, fitness tools, compass etc. This feature can track the traveled distance, steps, how many calories you’ve lost, heart rate, blood pressure, stress levels and so on.
