This weekend, gamers who own an Xbox One or Xbox 360 console will have access to online multiplayer without needing a Gold membership. Moreover, Rocket League, which normally costs $19.99, will be available for free.
Xbox One and Xbox 360 owners should not miss this opportunity! This weekend, Microsoft will hold a special event, offering them free online multiplayer, as well as double deal of sorts. Even if they don’t have a Gold membership, they can still experience the benefits of this status for a limited time and since there are many fans of vehicle soccer video games, they will surely want to try out Rocket League, which will be available for free until June 12 (11.59 PM PT).
Larry “Major Nelson” Hryb was the one who made the announcement about this offer on his official website. “For the first time ever all Xbox Live members without a Gold membership can play online with friends for FREE during Free Multiplayer Weekend on BOTH Xbox One and Xbox 360,” he said.
Later on, Psyonix Vice President of Marketing and Communications Jeremy Dunham has written on the official Rocket League website that “This weekend, we’re partnering up with our friends at Microsoft to give players of all Xbox Live membership levels FREE access to Rocket League on Xbox One. Starting this Thursday (June 9), you’ll be able download Rocket League at no charge through the end of Sunday (June 12) whether you have Xbox Live Silver or Gold – it’s open to all, regardless!”
We must specify that after the event will be over, the game will return to its normal price of $19.99, but Dunham has mentioned that gamers who will buy Rocket League during the weekend will pay only $17.99, as they will get a special 10 percent off it. In April, Rocket League was available for free in one weekend, on Steam, while the developers offered a 40 percent discount.
