The E3 event is approaching rapidly and GTA fans are eagerly anticipating any Rockstar announcements regarding the sixth installment in the series. There are some rumors that say a Liberty city will be featured in the series but no one knows if it refers to a GTA 6 map or to a DLC for GTA V.
Other rumors state that the GTA 6 map will comprise all of the maps in the past titles because the former GTA developer Leslie Benzies hinted at that a while ago.
Leslie Benzies departure
Benzies left the company after running it successfully for almost 20 years and sued it for 150 million dollars in unpaid royalties. Right now, this lawsuit is still undergoing procedures.
This departure means that whatever direction the GTA franchise was heading towards, it’s no longer available, as Benzies was very clear that Rockstar won’t be benefiting from his ideas any longer.
It’s more than likely that the future GTA installments will be very different from what fans are used to.
GTA V’s success stalls new installment
The microtransactions alone in GTA V online brought Rockstar 500 million dollars in revenues. This means that the online component is far more profitable for the company than the initial offline version and this can definitely be delaying the development of a GTA 6.
However, recent statistics show that the number of active players has been steadily declining and this might, in fact, motivate Rockstar to either make another DLC or develop the GTA 6.
GTA 6 gameplay rumors
Fans have been speculating for quite some time about the specifics of the GTA 6 gameplay and they believe that it will deviate from the traditional gameplay. They also presume that it will feature more driving stunts.
In fact, they even made an independent poll where most fans voted for a different GTA 6 gameplay in comparison to the GTA V supercars.
Other rumors surrounding the GTA 6 refer to a new female character voiced by actress Eva Mendes. Alongside her, there will be a new male character as well, voiced by her real life boyfriend, Ryan Gosling.
GTA 6 location and time
The presumed locations for the next GTA so far are Tokyo, but some believe it’s not viable because of the city’s infrastructure and that the game will unite all of the maps in the past titles.
In terms of when it will be set, analysts believe that it will go back in time – like it did in GTA Vice City.
GTA 6 release date
It’s very likely at this point that the game will be released around the same time as the release of Sony’s PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Two which is sometime between 2018 and 2020. Not only that, but it will also enjoy full VR support.
