Google Nexus 7 2016 was supposed to be released following the development of Android N, and will be introduced during the Google I/O conference. But because the tablet failed to make an appearance at the recently concluded event last May 18 to 20, it is possible that Google would replace it with a new lineup, if it would not be completed come August, that is.

What’s causing the delay?

The Android N system. Instead of introducing the new Google Nexus 7 tablet during the Google I/O conference, the company introduced the long coming Android N operating system instead. They highlighted the point in its development where beta testing can begin.

But the beta phase doesn’t necessarily bring Android N close to completion, which means Google Nexus 7 2016 would have to take a backseat. And if it was to be released pre-loaded with Android N, it is likely to be released at a much later date.

But analysts are looking at it from a different angle with speculations fueled by rumors that Google and Asus are in partnership to build the next Nexus 7. But there are also speculations that it would be made by the same company who built the Nexus 6P smartphone. With the Nexus 7 taken off the Google Play website, analysts think that Google may be announcing new devices instead.

Now it is possible that Nexus 7 2016 would still come out with Android N and new devices would be announced along with it. Ask anyone and they would prefer, a new lineup to be announced than Google Nexus 7 2016 to be scrapped entirely.

It is one of the most highly-anticipated tablets that fans of the Android operating system have been waiting for. They can handle the delay but not the total loss of Nexus 7. Especially not after it was said to feature the latest Snapdragon 820 processor, 4GB RAM, 7-inch Quad HD resolution screen, and NVIDIA’s Tegra X1 processor. Such specs make the next Nexus 7 very desirable.

Moreover, Android N offers better security against Stagefright vulnerabilities, and there will be access restrictions of software bugs. Google plans to divide media servers into different parts, each one specific to a particular feature or function. For example, the camera can only access the camera server and so on.

Combined with the hardware specs listed above, and with the possibility of two variants, Nexus 7 2016 will continue to be one of the most awaited tablets.
