Fans who loved “Pokemon X and Y” are eagerly waiting for “Pokemon Z” to be released. Unfortunately, it’s highly likely that this installment will not be released this year.

There are rumors that Pokemon Z would be released in Fall 2016. However, many gaming experts think that this isn’t true. For one thing, The Pokemon Company has not said anything about Pokemon Z and is focused on working with developers to add final touches to “Pokemon Sun and Moon” and “Pokemon GO”, both of which are set to be released this year. Game Freak, (which has developed many Pokemon games like Red and Blue, Ruby and Sapphire, and X and Y) has also not made any comments about the Pokemon Z.

There are several reasons as to why Pokemon Z won’t be released this year. According to some, releasing Pokemon Z alongside with Pokemon Sun and Moon would cause the publisher to split its marketing budget into two to accommodate the two games. This can lead to disastrous results; even though there are are still thousands of Pokemon fans around the world, both Pokemon games need all the promotion they can get to stand out from the hundreds of titles in the market and grab the attention of gamers.

Another reason may be that releasing Pokemon Z and Sun and Moon together would have a negative effect on the sales of both games, as some fans would opt for the continuation of Pokemon X and Y while others would opt for the completely new installment. With this in mind, it makes good financial sense to release one RPG game per year and get the customers’ undivided attention.

If these rumors are true, it’s highly likely that we’ll see Pokemon Z some time in 2017 or later.

However, there are also those who believe that Pokemon Sun and Moon will take the place of Pokemon Z and that the latter will never see the light of day. There are have been no official announcements about this from Game Freak and The Pokemon Company, so we’ll have to wait and see if this rumor turns out to be true.

If Pokemon Z would be released, it’s rumored to center around the much-awaited legendary Pokemon called Zygarde, which is rumored to evolve in five different stages. It will reportedly develop from a blob into a flat form, a dog, then a snake, and its final form is expected to be more powerful than Xerneas and Yveltal (two other legendary Pokemons).
