If you’re a big fan of The Elder Scrolls, you’re most likely looking forward to TES 6. Unfortunately, it seems that the latest installment in this popular video game franchise won’t be released any time this year.
There have been rumors going around that The Elder Scrolls 6 would be revealed during E3 2016, which would take place on June 14 to 17. These rumors stem from a tweet from Bethesda, which shows illustrations of characters from some of the developer’s most popular video games. One of the characters come from The Elder Scrolls franchise, prompting many fans to think that Bethesda would unveil TES 6 during the event.
However, it seems that these rumors won’t come true. In an interview with The Telegraph, Bethesda vice president of PR and marketing Pete Hines remarked that they “try to publish to quality” and “make sure everything we do is noteworthy”. This can be taken to mean that the company won’t add new installments to their game franchises just to increase their sales or maintain customer interest.
As of the moment, Bethesda also seems to be highly focused on its other games like Fallout 4. Recently, they released the latest Fo4 DLC called “Far Harbor”, which is touted as the biggest expansion for the franchise to date and has impressed many players with its superior graphics, excellent gameplay, and exciting storyline. It’s safe to assume that Bethesda is focusing most of their resources on developing content for Fallout 4 and their other games, which means that they don’t have the time and manpower to concentrate in The Elder Scrolls 6 as of now.
Still, TES fans should not worry. For one thing, Bethesda traditionally releases The Elder Scrolls installments every four years or so (Morrowind was released in 2002, Oblivion was released in 2006, and Skyrim was released in 2010). Since the last installment (The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited) was released last year, we can expect the next installment to be available in 2019 or 2020.
It also seems that Bethesda hasn’t given up yet on creating TES 6. In the interview with Telegraph, Pete Hines mentioned “Skyrim 2”, leading many fans to think that the latest installment in the game would be based in the fictional province of Skyrim. Bethesda hasn’t confirmed this, but Hines’s statement is at least a sign that the developer is thinking about the future of the game.
